  1. Blueberries

Blueberries are high in antioxidants, particularly vitamins C and E, but they also contain resveratrol, which is known to reduce sun damage to skin. They contain a lot of other vitamins and nutrients as well, making them not only beneficial to skin health, but your overall health, too.

Blueberries are delicious in a fruit bowl or smoothie, or even layered into a yogurt parfait, making them a satisfying sweet treat that’s easy to add into your diet.

  1. Salmon

Salmon and other fatty fish are rich with omega-3 fatty acids, which can reduce inflammation and signs of aging in the body.  Not a fan of eating fish? Consider taking a fish oil supplement to get the same beneficial oils and fats.

  1. Leafy Greens
Spinach

Leafy greens, such as spinach, contain considerable amounts of vitamin A, which helps to maintain smooth skin tone, and vitamin C, which helps to build skin cells, boost collagen production, and reduce free radical damage.

Spinach can easily be tossed in a smoothie or served as the main green in a salad. Maybe try throwing some blueberries or sliced avocado in there while you’re at it.
Speaking of which:

  1. Avocados

Avocados are not only delicious, they are also high in Omega-9 Fatty Acids, which are essential to a healthy complexion. They also contain many antioxidants, including vitamin C, vitamin E, and carotenoids (antioxidants commonly found in orange vegetables, such as carrots.) Antioxidants are a major part of a healthy skincare regimen and help to mitigate the damage caused by free radicals, reducing dark spots and hyperpigmentation. They even contain 2-6 micrograms of biotin, a B vitamin that is essential to hair and skin health.

The great thing about avocados is that they are incredibly versatile! You can slice them over a salad, spread them onto toast, mash and mix them with crab meat, mix them into a smoothie, or just eat them plain.

  1. Tomatoes

Tomatoes contain a lot of antioxidants and carotenoids, making them very beneficial for skin health. They are also a large part of Mediterranean diets, which are reportedly correlated with low cancer and heart disease death rates, so they’re an excellent food to add into your diet for overall health.

Throw some sliced tomatoes onto a salad, into a sandwich or wrap, or slice them up and toss them in with some sliced avocados, sea salt, and a drizzle of olive oil for a delicious salad.

  1. Olive Oil

Olive oil contains three antioxidants that are vital for protecting skin from free radicals: vitamin E, polyphenols and phytosterols. It also contains a rare compound called hydroxytyrosol, which adds to olive oil’s free radical fighting power.

Olive oil is one of the most versatile foods on this list. You can use it to dress salads, cook with it, dip bread into it, make homemade mayonnaise out of it the possibilities are nearly endless.

  1. Green Tea
Green Tea

Green tea is also good for healthy skin, so much so that many skincare serums and creams actually contain green tea extract! Green tea, like many other teas, contains polyphenols, which have been shown to have antibacterial, antioxidant, and antiviral properties. Catechins, the most common polyphenols in green tea, are also known to be strong anti-inflammatory agents.

Green tea is most commonly brewed as a tea, but it can also be purchased in powder form, making it a great ingredient to add into baked goods and smoothies.
So, try adding these foods to your diet. Along with a great skincare routine, eating these foods can drastically improve your skin’s health.
